| The
AVT-Solatrek transports cars and their passengers in private quiet train compartments
that have air conditioning, restrooms and entertainment centers. The
AVT-Solatrek is designed to be simple to use and enjoyable to ride. You simply
drive into a station, park your car, select your destination, and
you and your car are automatically loaded onto a train and transported
to your destination. On arrival you simply start your car and drive
away.
This is how it works.

There
are elevated guideways on each side of the highway on which
the AVT-Solatrek Trains run continuously - every 8 seconds during rush
hour. Cars with their passengers are loaded onto passing trains
by shuttles while the trains are moving. Each guideway will
transport over 10,000 cars per hour because the trains do not
stop at stations.
Shuttles pick up parked cars from Departure Stations, catch
up with a passing train, dock with the train and transfer the
car with their passengers onto the train. Shuttles also transfer
cars from moving trains and park them in Arrival Stations. Shuttles
travel on a separate guideway loop that services Departure and
Arrival Stations on both sides of the highway.
There is a similar shuttle system in operation today that loops
over the I-15 in Primm Nevada. It connects casinos on the east
and west side of the highway with automatic people movers instead
of AVT-Solatrek Shuttles. |

Departure
Stations are like elevated parking structures with 4 to 20 diagonal
parking spaces. Shuttles arrive at the Departure Stations on
a guideway from across the highway where there is an Arrival
Station for the opposing traffic.
AVT-Solatrek Stations
can be built over the highway, doubling its capacity without
widening the road. Entry and exit ramps are built over the existing
shoulders. |

Stations
are relatively small because they do not have parking lots,
baggage handling and other facilities. The stations cover only
a small part of the highway, even when stations are spaced every
few miles.
The
parking spaces are covered with retractable ATM like machines
that rise from below. |

After parking, the driver uses the ATM machine to enter a credit or debit card and select a destination. Shortly thereafter, the car is rotated 45¬ƒ and conveyor belts automatically transfer the parked car onto a waiting Shuttle.
Once the car is secure, the Shuttle accelerates to meet with an approaching train.
Each train carries 20 to 30 cars and cars may be transferred from the same train simultaneously. When the Shuttle is next to an empty compartment, it docks with the train and the door on the train opens. |
